Malgré une solide formation scientifique nucléaire, il abandonne ce domaine après la seconde guerre mondiale pour travailler à la télévision. Il participe à des programmes de théâtre filmé comme L'importance d'être constant avec John Gielgud et Margaret Leighton. Il poursuit un travail assidu pour le petit écran pendant 25 ans réalisant un nombre considérable d'épisodes de série comme The Trollenberg Terror dont il tournera par la suite un long métrage pour le cinéma, Guillaume Tell, L'Homme invisible, The Voodoo Factor, Chapeau Melon et Bottes de cuir, The Plane Makers, Aventures australes ou Public Eye. On lui doit également une demi-douzaine de films pour le cinéma, essentiellement des films d'actions comme Le Secret de l'Île Sanglante ou des films policiers comme Pas de crédit pour les caves, Londres la Nuit, On ne réveille pas les Morts ou We Shall be. Insatiable, il tourne des séries comme Les Fantômes du Château et Strangers quand il succombe à une crise cardiaque à 58 ans.
Quentin Lawrence est décédé à Halifax, le 9 mars 1979.
