G. Grayson : tournage de
Dick Barton strikes back
Homme à tout faire des studios, formé au montage et à prise de son, il entre dans les studios Hammer après la deuxième guerre mondiale. Il va participer à l'essor de la société en réalisant les aventures de Dick Barton (Dick Barton strikes back), du docteur Morelle (The Case of the Missing Heiress) et de PC 49. Spécialisé dans le thriller mystérieux plus que de l'horreur maison, il réussit quelques bonnes bandes comme To have and to hold, histoire d'un paralytique qui accorde le droit à sa femme de faire son bonheur avec un autre homme, La Galerie du Mystère où Dennis O'Keefe enquête sur le vol de La Vierge à l'Enfant de De Vinci et remplacé par un faux, High Jump où un cambriolage est réalisé par des trapéziste de haute voltige, Rendez-vous à Minuit avec Jean Aubrey ou La Toile d'araignée d'après Agatha Christie avec Glynis Johns et Jack Hulbert. Bon technicien mais assez académique, il livre des copies proprement faites et non dépourvues d'intérêt. À noter que la comédie So evil, so young et The Battleaxe, deux de ses derniers films marquent les débuts de Jill Ireland en tête d'affiche. Grayson a également beaucoup travaillé pour la télévision, notamment sur les séries The Vise, The Cheaters et The Pursuers avec Louis Hayward.
Godfrey Grayson est décédé à Kingston sur Tamise, le 1er juin 1998.
